In Woodworking, you will be building project(s) to help you learn the basics of woodworking. You will be learning how to properly and safely work with hand tools and smaller power tools/machines. Upon passing written and operational tests, you will have the opportunity to use the saber saw, scroll saw, disk/belt and spindle sanders, drill press, routers, power miter saw and mini lathe to help complete your project(s). Lab fees are required in this course.
In Drafting, you will be learning basic manual drafting and computer aided drafting. You will learn to develop skill in neatness, accuracy and problem solving through a variety of drafting assignments. How do things work?
This class is designed to challenge students, but not be overly difficult. Students who work hard and take an interest in their work will find it easy to be successful. Students will be required to complete daily clean-up jobs as well as self-reflection logs daily. Self-reflection logs are worth daily points, these are the easiest points to earn in this class, but also the easiest points to lose. If a student does not fill out their daily log (time sheet) they automatically lose 40% of their daily points (pay). The daily logs must contain legible what they did that day and what they plan to do next class period. Students are not penalized for being absent up to 5 days each quarter, as long as the absence is excused. If a student completes their projects prior to the due date they will earn the right to create enrichment projects of their choosing.
Make-up Work: Time missed from class must be made up before or after school. Make arrangements before coming in.
Binders: You need to bring a three-ring binder to class. Your name and class period should be neatly printed on the binder in the top right-hand corner of the front of your binder and on each piece of paper. All work must be neat and in order.
Virtual/in person
Students will be responsible for assignments online and in the classroom in Canvas.
I communicate with students through email, which needs to be checked daily along with the Daily schedule in Canvas.
