Class/Job description?
Industrial Arts 1 is a semester-long class that is designed to introduce you to the wide world of Industrial Arts. This class will explore many different areas of Industrial Arts as well as career and technical education as a whole. Some areas of focus include; measuring, tool identification, drafting, and woodworking. These areas of study will contain written work, hands-on projects, and classroom activities designed to enhance your learning process as well as provide you with the opportunity to work with industry tools and equipment. This class will be very work intensive and demands a serious work ethic to be successful. Students will be challenged to work as a team and on their own toward common goals. To be successful in this class you will need to come to class every day willing to learn new things and use prior knowledge to complete projects and assignments. These Industrial Arts courses will also prepare you for further study in Industrial Arts, offerings at the 8th grade level such as woodworking and metalworking classes. This course is designed to be your job for the semester, you will be expected to complete certain tasks each week and complete your work in a timely fashion. If you do what is asked of you, you will be rewarded doing so, in other words you will earn your pay. If you continually don’t meet your expectations or refuse to do your work you may find yourself looking for a new job.
Keys to being successful in this class:
Be respectful!
Follow all safety procedures and rules at all times.
A willing attitude, come ready to learn and work.
Show up on time.
Strong work ethic, completing tasks in a timely manner is a must.

Organization, if you can’t find your projects it's hard to complete them.
Always have a positive attitude.
Challenge yourself.
Use your problem-solving skills.
Focus on the job at hand.
Overall, if you show up to class everyday and complete what is asked of you in a timely manner you will have no problems with this class!
How do things work?
This class is designed to challenge students, but not be overly difficult. Students who work hard and take an interest in their work will find it easy to be successful. Students will be required to complete daily clean-up jobs as well as self-reflection logs daily. Self-reflection logs are worth daily points, these are the easiest points to earn in this class, but also the easiest points to lose. If a student does not fill out their daily log (time sheet) they automatically lose 40% of their daily points (pay). The daily logs must contain legible what they did that day and what they plan to do next class period.  Students are not penalized for being absent up to 5 days each quarter, as long as the absence is excused. If a student completes their projects prior to the due date they will earn the right to create enrichment projects of their choosing.
